ABOUT THE DESIGN / MODERN MINIMALISM
Even before he began collaborating with Nike, one of Hiroshi Fujiwara's favorite sneakers was the Nike LD1000, thanks to its clean, minimal '70s design aesthetic. As a nod to the era, he recreated this version in vintage suede-over-nylon materials, sourced from the archives. Then he covered the entire shoe in his signature obsidian and white palette, but added hits of black, including a blacked-out Max Air unit, for added sophistication.

NIKE AIR MAX ORIGINS
Nike's revolutionary Air-Sole unit made its way into Nike footwear in the late '70s. In 1987, the Nike Air Max 1 debuted with visible air in its heel, allowing fans more than just the feel of Air-Sole comfort— suddenly they could see it. Since then, next-generation Nike Air Max shoes have become a hit with athletes and collectors by offering striking color combinations and reliable, lightweight cushioning.
